A memory I'll never forget is getting to go to horseback riding for the first time at Camp Chippewa in Ottawa, KS, as a child! Riding with my buddies recently had me reminiscing about those days, and it's a good time to get your little ones registered for riding summer camps before it's too late. Here are 6 horseback riding summer camps across the country that are for all disciplines for any level of rider!

Barrel Racing

Josey Ranch 7 Day Barrel Racing School

  • Location: Karnack, TX
  • Dates: Session 1 June 4-10, 2017; Session 2 June 18-24, 2017
  • Rate: $750
  • Age range: all ages - children 8 & under must be accompanied by a parent
  • Level: all levels
  • Horses provided: No
  • Description: You will spend a week at the Josey Ranch, where you'll get lots of one on one instruction with Martha Josey and her team in pole bending and barrel racing, problem solving, and horsemanship. The week will end with two competition runs where you can win buckles, saddles, and other prizes.

  • Description: Next Phase Eventing offers a three day camp with two small group lessons per day. On day one, riders will spend time schooling in dressage, day two focuses on jumping, and day three is for cross country.
