Meet the Intern: Makenzie
Hey, guys! My name is Makenzie and I am the new marketing and communications intern at RIDE TV! I am so grateful for this opportunity and I am looking forward to learning everything I can during my time here.
I started riding horses when I was 15. I did online school so I was not involved in any sports or extracurricular activities at the time, so it seemed like something fun I could try. I quickly fell in love with it and for Christmas that year, a Polish Arabian horse named Fancy was under the tree. She quickly became my best friend and began teaching me how to run barrels and poles.
My mom rode horses growing up and after I got Fancy, she remembered how much she loved riding. So along came Charlie, a grade trail horse who enjoys refusing to move as soon as he sees a saddle, and Tony, a 6-year-old quarter horse.
I am a junior at Tarleton State University majoring in Communications Journalism and Broadcasting. I am an active member of Delta Phi Epsilon and a New Member Educator for this upcoming year. This past summer I worked as a reporter at a local newspaper and got to experience print publication, which was an incredible and educational experience.
I love spending time with my friends and family. I have two older brothers, and my parents are wonderful. My mom has taught me so much about going after what I want and following my dreams, and she is the one who encouraged me to start riding horses and apply for this internship. I am so thankful for her support.
Last week I adopted a senior dog named Selah from an animal shelter. She is already spoiled and thinks the world revolves around her (I mean, she’s not wrong). We enjoy going to the park, eating, and taking a lot of naps.
I am so excited and thankful for this opportunity and cannot wait to see what I learn here!
