If you have a passion for agriculture and “ag”-vocating for the industry, Ag Media Summit is something you don’t want to miss. It is one of the best opportunities for professional improvement and industry networking.

The 19th Annual Ag Media Summit (AMS) took place Sunday, July 23-26 in Snowbird, Utah and was the largest one to date.

AMS is the largest meeting in the United States of the ag industry's top writers, editors, photographers, publishers, students and ag communicator specialists. It is a joint meeting of American Agricultural Editors Association (AAEA), Livestock Publications Council (LPC), Connective Agri-Media Council and the National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (NACT).

I had the honor of attending this year representing my school, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

I met some incredible students from all over the country and we all were able to connect over our common interest: agriculture.

To start out the event, if you arrived early between Friday and Saturday, you were able to attend organized ag tours to farms, ranches and museums all around Utah.

Sunday night was the famous Welcome Party at the top of the Summit sitting at 11,000 ft elevation.

Over the next two days we were able to attend 6 sessions varying from designing to current issues facing agriculture.

The InfoExpo had over 75 exhibitors from top livestock and crop companies like John Deere, Syngenta, Dow AgroSciences and National Cattlemen's Beef Association.

They of course kept the hungry bunch of agriculturists well fed and entertained. Amberly Snyder gave an inspiring speech at the Luncheon on Tuesday that was one for the books.

The Awards Dinner was an eventful night full of celebration before everyone goes their separate ways until next year. AAEA, LPC, and NACT gave out major awards and recognition  to many individuals for the outstanding achievements in the industry.

After leaving the conference, I feel even more passionate about the agriculture industry and feel positive in our nation’s future because of the leaders we have representing agriculture.

Looking forward for the 20th Annual Ag Media Summit in Phoenix, Arizona August 4-8, 2018!
