15 Western Album Covers and Road Trip Songs

Hey friends!

Check out these super cool album covers, and discover some new music while you’re at it!

1. “Great Songs of the Old West” feat. Roy Rogers and Dale Evans

Midnight trail rides with your friends are the best. Also, “Home on the Range” is included on this album, which is the state song of where I call home, in Kansas!

2. “Waylon & Willie” by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson

Tooled leather anything grabs my attention, so this cover has always been one of my favorites. Waylon and Willie collaberate in “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys” and another one I enjoy, “The Year 2003 Minus 25”, among many other great songs.

3. “Golden Nuggets” by Judy Lynn

Judie dawns bright colored Nudie’s Rodeo Tailors suits on almost all of her album covers and in a lot of her old performance pictures. She usually wore only one color at a time, which stuck out.

4. “Western Tunesmith” by Chris LeDoux

You can’t ever go wrong with Chris LeDoux! My favorites from this album are “All My Heroes Have Been Cowboys” and “Dream On Cowboy”!

5. “Western Classics” with Gene Autry

This album looks exactly like an old western movie poster! It’s full of cowboy jargon and scenerios that only a horseman can understand, and he’s wearing a cool hat!

6. “Five Dollar Bill” by The Corb Lund Band

I just discovered The Corb Lund Band and was a fan right away. My favorite song on “Five Dollar Bill” is “Daughter Don’t You Marry No Guitar Picker”. Other songs on the album are “Buckin’ Horse Rider” and “(Gonna) Shine Up My Boots."

7. “Cross Country” by Webb Pierce

Fun Fact: both the car and his suit on this album cover were designed by Nudie Cohn.

8. “Against the Wind” by Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band

Seger’s “Against the Wind” was his first number one album on the Billboard album chart. Everybody needs a little rock while on the highway!

9. “Love is Like a Butterfly” by Dolly Parton

I’m a Dolly fan and a collector of her cassette tapes, and I can easily say that this tape is one of my favorite’s. A couple of my go-to songs are “Highway Headin’ South” and “Getting’ Happy."

10. “Small Town Big Shot” by Fanny Lumsden

This one is another new discovery for me. She has a really soothing voice, optimistic lyrics, and good style, all of which I like. My favorite from Small Town Big Shot is “Totem Tennis.”

11.“Sweetheart of the Rodeo” by The Byrds

“Sweetheart of the Rodeo” is a really cool one because The Byrds can go from the twangy country sound you hear in “You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere”, to funky sounding tunes like “Lazy Days”, to straight bluegrass like in “Pretty Polly”. It’s all good! Get the shirt here, http://rdbl.co/2kpXmlE.

12. “I’ve Been Everywhere” by Hank Snow

It was hard to choose my favorite Hank Snow album cover— but I’m all about maps, globes and postcards.

13. “The George Jones Story” with George Jones

George Jones had several awesome covers to choose from, but I’ve got summer on my mind so the yellow horse and yellow background won me over just like that!

14. “Shake it Down” by Six Market Blvd.

There’s so so many good songs on this! It’s almost THE perfect roadtrip album. I like this guy’s fringe jacket and feather in his hat, plus “Shake it Down” sounds like something you do around Happy Hour on a Friday!

15. “Rhinestone Cowboy” by Glen Campbell

I’m also all about funky 70’s fonts, and I love how happy Glen looks here. This was an easy pick to round out the list!
